Due to the fees associated with hazardous UPS COD packages, FHS will no longer ship hazardous materials (i.e. fuels/HP boosters) on a COD basis. All the oils (racing, automotive, and model) are non-hazardous and can ship UPS COD. We prefer that COD packages ship to a business address. How can I use Nitro and/or Propylene Oxide igniter for racing?
Instructions for use of NitroMethane, NitroEthane, Propylene Oxide
**IMPORTANT**
See the appropriate MSDS (listed above) for these materials before use!
These materials are highly flammable and should be used with extreme caution!
The HP Boosters are fuel additives which will increase the power of fuel.
Fuel types --HP Booster:
Methanol -- NitroMethane, Propylene Oxide
Gasoline -- NitroEthane, Propylene Oxide
Max Compression Ratios:
NitroMethane, NitroEthane -- 8:1 or less
Propylene Oxide -- 16:1 or less
Warning! Use at higher compression can cause detonation and engine damage!
Power Range:
NitroMethane, NitroEthane -- All around booster and high end horsepower - will light one off!
Propylene Oxide -- Igniter and low end horsepower for the corners and off the starting line: extra torque
Suggested safe fuel ratios (assuming correct compression):
Stock engine: 10% Nitro + 10% Propylene + 80% Fuel
To mix (for best results mix just before the race):
Get a gallon fuel jug
Add 13 oz Nitro
Add 13 oz Propylene
Fill remainder with regular fuel
Seal tightly until use
Some people go up to 20%, 30%, or higher on the Nitro (experienced users only), but there is not much point to go higher than 15%-20% on Propylene Oxide igniter.
For Nitro, engine adjustments may necessary to get the full benefit of these additives:
Increase jet size, set timing back, remove some gear teeth -- hold on tight!.
For Propylene Oxide, no engine adjustments are necessary, although some people like to go up one jet size.
Note: These can be mixed in FHS oils to make "Hot Oil". However, they have their best effect when used as fuel additives (i.e. in the fuel).
The stock Briggs can safely replace about 4-5 oz of oil with these HP boosters and still maintain FHS oil lubrication and integrity.
As with all hazardous chemicals, use maximum caution (and common sense) at all times.
